Recommending interesting blogs

Here I would like to recommend you some interesting blogs my fellow colleagues made in our Media & Society class;

Starting with Rita’s blog about Stereotypes http://stereotypingus.blogspot.com/ the issue presented the stereotypical portraying of the youth in the media. Considering myself still as the youth it was interesting and easy to relate to. Also I compared it if there are similar notions in the media while stereotypes the minority (Vietnamese or the youth in this case) and thus I recommend it.

Second interesting blog is Karolina’s concerning the Placement of Products in the Media. http://theproductplacementblog.blogspot.com/ It is the interesting issue which have both positive and negative sides and I am still not decided what to think about it. Is the Product placement more positive or negative? I encourage you to examine the issue on your own because I believe that the final decision is based on everybody’s perception of morality and values.

Third blog I would recommend is Shaklo’s blog concerning the private life of celebrities. Shaklo presents the interesting issue of how media might be very harmfull towards the private life of individual. Though celebrities are not ordinary individuals they still have the rights for their private lives. But it is our demand of new informations and gossips about them that fuels this kind of industry. The fourth blog I would recommend is Bella’s concerning the Political advertisements. Focusing on advertisements creating the negative context or even attacking the opposition she gives some good examples of negative political ads from the USA and local environment. I can’t stop thinking to myself: “Does the level of political advertising decreased into the level of accusations and attacks on the opponents?” Find out on http://advertisinglimited.blogspot.com/

The fifth blog I recommend is Viktor’s blog concerning the racism in sports. The reason I chose it is that it concerns the minorities as well as my issue presented. Media portrayals of Vietnamese Minority

Media have powerful role in creating the “reality” we perceive. However, the “reality” they present might be different from the “reality” that surrounds us.  What re the processes of how is Vietnamese minority portrayed in the media?
